Canyon Balloon Festival: the magic of hot air balloons returns to sail the skies of Puglia. An extraordinary event that will be held from 29 June to 6 October in five municipalities in the province of Taranto.

The magic of hot air balloons returns to cross the skies of Puglia with the second edition of the “Canyon Balloon Festival”, an extraordinary event that will be held from 29 June to 6 October in five municipalities in the province of Taranto. Presented in the prestigious Sala Di Jeso of the Puglia Region in Bari, the festival saw the participation of the regional councilor for Tourism, Gianfranco Lopane, the mayors of the municipalities involved and the accountable manager of Mongolfiere al Sud Italia, Francesco Ruggieri.

The organizers do not hide their enthusiasm: “The hot air balloons will return to fly over Puglia to offer residents and tourists a unique and fascinating perspective of the wonderful landscape heritage of the Terra delle Gravine”. With these words, they described the promise of an unforgettable experience, which combines the natural beauty of the area with the timeless charm of hot air balloons.

SECOND EDITION CANYON BALLOON FESTIVAL

The event promises to be even grander than the first edition, with captive hot air balloon flights accompanied by background music and free flights which will see 15 crews from all over Italy and Europe taking part. The first stage will be held on 29 and 30 June in Marina di Ginosa, at the Lido La Baita, followed by 13 and 14 July in Castellaneta, at Contrada Zirifico. On August 25th it will be Palagiano’s turn, with the event taking place in the seaside resort of Chiatona – Lungomare Marinai d’Italia. Subsequently, on 14 and 15 September, Palagianello will welcome participants at the equipped natural park, concluding the festival on 4, 5 and 6 October in Laterza, at Agriturismo Nigro, where free flights will also be held.

A TRIBUTE TO DOMENICO MODUGNO

The 2024 claim, “I think a dream like this will never come back,” is a touching tribute to Domenico Modugno on the thirtieth anniversary of his death. The famous “Nel blu dipinto di blu,” better known as “Volare,” will resonate across the skies of Puglia, inspiring and reconnecting participants to the very essence of the event.

INCLUSIVITY

A particularly significant aspect of this edition is inclusiveness. The organization underlined that “even people with sensory disabilities will be able to try this unique experience on board a special hot air balloon, in collaboration with the citizen voluntary associations” of the municipalities of Palagianello, Marina di Ginosa, Palagiano, Castellaneta and Laterza. An initiative that makes the festival not only a spectacular event, but also an example of solidarity and inclusion.

The ‘Canyon Balloon Festival’ is not just an event, but a journey between dream and reality, sky and earth, which allows you to discover Puglia from a unique perspective. An unmissable event for those who want to live an experience that combines adventure, beauty and a touch of magic.
