over 2,500 students from Abruzzo for the CSVA and USR project

ABRUZZO – Spread the culture of solidarity and social commitment among adolescents as a weapon for preventing conflicts and pathological forms of relationships that often lead to painful news events. This is also the aim of the “School and volunteering” project born from the collaboration between the Abruzzo Volunteering Service Center ETS Abruzzo and the Regional School Office for Abruzzo sealed by a memorandum of understanding signed on 16 November 2022.

The paths activated in the 2023/2024 school year involved 2,500 students throughout the Region and over 47 educational institutions in collaboration with accredited third sector bodies. The project was divided into two macro areas: “What revolves around me” and “Me, you…volunteers”. As underlined by the president of the CSVA, Casto Di Bonaventura on the occasion of a feedback meeting that took place this morning at the USR Abruzzo headquarters: “We were able to talk about our experience, made in recent years, in agreement with the schools which are growing in number and who participate with ever greater interest and enthusiasm for our school and volunteering projects. We found great availability on the part of the regional school office, of the director Nardocci, with all his staff, who assured us of maximum collaboration by following up on our memorandum of understanding, in a tangible way. We will thus be able to build paths for the future together with schools and voluntary associations.”

The general director of USR Abruzzo, Massimiliano Nardocci, in expressing satisfaction with the fruitful work carried out in Abruzzo schools, hoped for “the activation of an increasingly synergistic relationship between USR and CSVA in order to activate programming for the next school year which reflects the needs of educational institutions, broadening the range of action to include primary schools, accentuating the orientation value of the paths implemented”.

In fact, most of the actions were implemented within the PCTO with sector associations. The initiatives focused on the activation of active citizenship and participatory planning workshops; internships at associations; the staging of an exhibition entitled: “Alone is not enough”; the “Long live love” journey on love, emotions and sexuality; orientation towards universal civil service. Orientation meetings on international volunteering (“Time to move”) were also activated and a scholarship was finally awarded to final year students of secondary schools in the Peligna Valley and Alto Sangro.
