MESSINA – Kairos Racing triumphs in the 2H Endurance at the Messina Kartodromo. The pair formed by Davide Campione and Giovanni Rizzo won the fourth seasonal round of the 2024 Asi-Sws Endurance Regional Championship, organized by the Messina Karting Club of manager Duilio Petrullo. Gattopardo and Leopard complete the podium.
Twenty-one teams will be competing on the track, divided into the three categories (F1, F2, F3) provided. After the briefing and the kart draw, there will be 10′ qualifying sessions to determine the grid. Pole conquered by Davide Campione (Kairos Racing) with a time of 37.990. Without Second Filter. Gattopardo and Trinacria start behind them.
The chronicle of 2H Endurance
At the start Campione gets off to a good start and doesn’t give Broccio a chance, maintaining the lead of the race. At the stroke of half an hour Kairos Racing still firmly ahead, then Trinacria and Gattopardo. Strategies diversified as the minutes passed and team managers incessantly at work. After an hour of the race, with Kairos Racing having observed a greater number of stops up to that point, Gattopardo is the one to lap in front of everyone, then Leopard and MRT Pro. Team Killers (F2) and STP Racing (F3) continue to lead in their respective categories.
With half an hour remaining, Gattopardo precedes Leopard, then the pit becomes completely crowded 17′ from the end. Once the exchange rate has been equalised, culminating a perfect strategy, Kairos Racing officially takes back the lead 7′ from the gong. Stage champion in the last stint, with Fusco (Leopard) chasing. Once the sixth pit has been completed, Kairos Racing remains first, Gattopardo leaps into second, overtaking Leopard. At the checkered flag, after 159 laps completed, Kairos Racing crossed the finish line alone, with Davide Campione, also author of the best lap (37.987), celebrating the well-deserved success together with teammate Giovanni Rizzo and team manager Salvatore Villa. Heavy points for Kairos Racing, at the first seal in the 2-hour races after having already won the 4H Endurance. And the fight for the title is now heating up more and more.
Nice boost of confidence for Gattopardo who, with the duo made up of the expert Fabrizio Anello and the very young Mirko Chiarenza, finished in second position thanks to excellent conduct, 20,357 behind. Leopard, with Valentino Fusco and Sara La Fauci, third at 23.694, recovering six positions compared to the grid. In the order of arrival, from fourth place downwards, are Trinacria (C. Chiarenza-Tappa), SenzaFiltro (Broccio-Pizzuti), Maiden MRT (Alberti-Irrera), MRT Pro (Garufi-Miduri), Kairos Next Generation (Barbaro-Minutoli) and Siraka RT (Giarratana-Interlandi).
The other categories
In the F2 (7 pits) success for Team Killers, protagonists Antonio and Riccardo Bartolotta who dominated the test since qualifying (38.438), giving themselves a peremptory victory in the race. Verdello Home (Latteri-Sturiale) second at 19.052, third Team Killers 2.0 (Minuto-Pisano). Followed by AF Sport Asd (Di Bella-Pino), Evo MRT (Ruggeri-Scimone), Vulcan RT (Barbera-Romano) and Air MRT (Cerrito-D’Angelo). In the F3 the joy is all for STP Racing with the Catarro-Leopardi duo doing well to impose themselves on Fire MRT (Bongiorno-Brusca, best time in qualifying with 38.372) and Ice MRT (Cardile-Costa). The picture is completed by STP Academy (Alessi-Farina) and DS al Quadrato (G. Di Stefano and S. Di Stefano).
The first three teams classified in each category and the drivers who achieved pole positions and the absolute best lap of the event were rewarded on the podium. The 100% SWS point simulator was used for the assigned score. The 2H Endurance will take place on July 20th, the fifth out of seven appointments of the internal championship, which will also be valid as the final stage of the Interprovincial Championship in collaboration with the Ispica track
