A man was stabbed last night in Piazza Vittoria in Bolzano, during the celebrations for Italy’s passage to the next round of the European Football Championships. The injured man, hit in the neck and leg, was immediately transported to hospital where, fortunately, his condition was not serious. The prognosis is ten days.
The incident occurred in the middle of the night, when a fight broke out between Albanian fans who had followed their national team’s match in a bar and then moved to Piazza Vittoria, a place traditionally used for carousels and celebrations. During the scuffle, an attacker pulled out a knife and hit the victim, causing severe blood loss.
The police intervened promptly on the spot, providing first aid and managing to slow the bleeding. Witnesses present were interviewed by the Police Headquarters, which started an investigation to trace the perpetrator of the stabbing.
