Umbria. The problem of problems remains: wild boars are the main cause of destruction in agriculture

The Confagricoltura of Umbria is putting forward another idea to combat the problem of wild boars more and better. And it calls into question the Region which is responsible for the legislation. And then, re-demarcation of the unsuitable areas with elimination of these from the skills of the teams, which must be made to rotate the sectors. According to Confagricoltura, the control of wild fauna starts from these ideas and to strengthen the containment tools, especially for the wild boar species.
Focusing on constant control but also containment activities is what Confagricoltura has always requested, given that in the regional territory the proliferation of wild boars is a deeply felt problem which causes serious damage to the agricultural economy but also to the safety of citizens, as well as a issue linked to topics such as healthcare and ecology.
We remind you that wild boar, in addition to causing direct damage to the farmer, is a source of zoonoses, diseases transmissible to humans, the cause of road accidents and attacks on humans. It is a dominant species that has led to the demographic decline of other wild animals, it is a depleting species of undergrowth products. Also other species of huntable game
Confagricoltura Umbria therefore urges the Umbria Region to quickly start the regulatory update processes to allow a path of adaptation and, where necessary, modification as soon as the extraordinary plan for the fight against ASF (African Swine Fever) is approved.
It is therefore necessary, Confagricoltura reiterates, to re-delimit the areas suitable and not suitable for the wild boar species, ensuring that all areas characterized by the presence of agricultural crops, livestock, agritourism and hospitality activities, as well as urban and peri-urban areas, are included in non-suited areas. Therefore, foresee the rotation of the sectors for the teams, eliminating all unsuitable areas from their territorial competences.
For Confagricoltura, the actions that the Region is undertaking for the development of the game meat supply chain are positive so that the management of ungulates is no longer just a tool for preventing and reducing damage to agricultural crops but also an economic opportunity for the sustainability of the farm income.
Rather than further public demonstrations by farmers, Fabio Rossi, president of Confagricoltura Umbria, reiterates the need for agricultural organizations to converge on these issues which have always been carried out by Confagricoltura in concert with the Umbria Region which, in other neighboring regions, have reduced the problems related to wild boars.
