The G7 summit, organized by Italy as the nation that currently holds the Presidency of the G7, recently concluded in Borgo Egnazia.
For this event, as stated in a note from the Guardia di Finanza of Livorno, the Air-Naval Division of the Guardia di Finanza was entrusted, as the only police force at sea, with the preparation of a specific air and naval surveillance device for the purposes of public order and safety, of the body of water in front of the Apulian district where the summit of the Heads of State and Government took place.
The imposing device established saw the use of numerous assets, both air and naval, taken from the Air, Naval and Alturieri Operations Departments of the Guardia di Finanza present throughout the national territory and obviously also in Puglia.
In particular, for the Roan of Livorno, the General Command of the Corps has ordered the redeployment of the Coast Guard G.123 “Salone” and related large crew of a soldier from the Diving Unit at the Naval Station of Livorno who from 9 to 17 June were employed to support his counterpart Roan from Puglia, who drew up a specific plan for public order and security services in sea, in the 3 critical areas identified as most at risk.
Before departure, the commander of the Livorno Air and Naval Operations Department – Lt. Col. pil. NicolaNavarra – had addressed a brief greeting to the crew in operational readiness, which was then repeated last June 20th when the naval unit returned to headquarters after having traveled almost 2500 miles.
In this first half of the year the Roan of Livorno, again within the framework of the G7 summits, was involved in various locations including Capri, from 16 to 20 April, Stresa, from 23 to 25 May and, precisely, in Borgo Egnazia, in the municipality of Fasano in Puglia.
