petition collects almost 90,000 signatures

LOMBARDY – A wave of petitions to shake up the institutions. Almost 90,000 signatures collected by the La Lombardia SiCura Committee to ask for a change in the management of healthcare in Lombardy. A strong and clear signal of widespread discontent among part of the population, which reports concrete inconveniences in access to care and a growing gap between public and private.

At the center of the mobilization, the crucial issue of waiting lists. A chronic problem which, according to the promoters of the petition, requires immediate and concrete solutions. Among the proposals put forward, the creation of a single regional booking center that makes the agendas of all public and private structures transparent and accessible. A fundamental step to reduce waiting times and guarantee a truly efficient healthcare service.

In addition to the waiting lists, the petition points to other critical aspects. The strengthening of local medicine, with a strengthening of consultants and preventive medicine services, is a key element to lighten the load on hospitals and guarantee local healthcare. Added to this is the request for a hiring plan to counter the phenomenon of “coin-paying” doctors, guaranteeing stable and qualified staff.

Another priority is the taking charge by the Region of healthcare expenses for elderly people hospitalized in RSAs. A delicate issue which, according to the Committee, risks becoming more acute with the entry into force of the law on differentiated autonomy. The objective is clear: to avoid the risk of a two-speed healthcare system, where only those who can afford it have access to quality care. The Lombardy Region is called to listen to citizens’ requests and to adopt concrete measures to restore an efficient, fair and accessible public health service to all.
