Although there is still just under two months to go until the kick-off of the next championship, Serie B is already starting to make its fans smell it. In the past few hours, the Lega B assembly has announced the publication date of the calendar for the 2024/2025 season of the cadet series: the appointment is for the late afternoon of Wednesday 10 July in La Spezia, in Piazza Europa. Then Carrarese will know where and against whom she will begin her new adventure in Serie B and in what order she will face the 19 opponents, starting from the first matchday of 16-18 August until the last in mid-May next year (date to be defined) . Compared to last year, the level of the second series of Italian football has dropped slightly, but this does not mean the championship will be less competitive, on the contrary.

The promotion to Serie A of very rich properties such as Parma, Como and Venezia and the simultaneous relegation from the top flight of Salernitana, Sassuolo and Frosinone, the fall to Serie C of historic teams such as Ternana and Ascoli (as well as those of Feralpisalò and Lecco) and the The arrival in their place of Carrarese, Juve Stabia, Mantova and Cesena, have in fact “ironed out” the differences that existed between the 20 teams that presented themselves at the starting line a year ago. Granata, Neroverdi and Ciociari will certainly aim for an immediate return to Serie A, but with more limited (economic) means than those available to Ducali, Lariani and Lagoonari. Cremonese, Palermo, Sampdoria and Brescia also aspire to a promotion that has been missing for some time: the grey-reds came close to it this year, only losing in the playoff final against the orange-greens, while the rosanero, blucerchiati and Rondinelle have to work hard to improve the sixth, seventh and eighth place respectively obtained in the recently concluded season.

Added to these are Catanzaro – a surprise in the last Serie B and intent on repeating, which is always very difficult – and Bari, who are trying to build a competitive team to return to Serie A 15 years after the last time, starting however from a a team that only managed to avoid relegation in the playouts in May. For the rest, many ambitious teams who closed the ’23/’24 season in mid-table and who on the one hand hope to raise the bar, but on the other have as their main objective that of maintaining the category. The Azzurri and the other three newly promoted teams, therefore, will certainly be able to have their say in a championship that promises to be very balanced and in which no one presents themselves as truly unbeatable. We remind you that from today La Nazione will distribute a poster as a gift to celebrate Carrarese’s promotion to Serie B.
