Antares Nuoto Latina fails to achieve this feat, overtaken by Anzio in the Junior B play-off final which ensured Lazio’s 2nd place for the national category semi-finals. Reading the result it seems like it was a match without history but this was not the case for those who witnessed the match. For at least 3 playing halves Anzio, certainly deserving of going through to the next round, trembled quite a bit in the face of a tough and compact Antares in defense as well as in attack. In fact, the Pontini recovered the initial 3-1 deficit, went on to lead 5-3 and took the lead twice more, 5-6 and 6-7 in the middle of the third quarter. the rossoblù dear to the President Alberico Davoli, however, suffered both the definitive exit from the water due to injury of a precious element like Leonardo Chemello and the efforts of many of their athletes, returning from the testing Game 1 of the Serie C play-off played in less than 24 hours before. A general cloud that did not allow the Latin players to exploit several chances in numerical superiority and on penalties and which a well-structured and experienced team like Anzio took advantage of. The gap between the two teams in fact increased, punishing Antares beyond measure in the last quarter, 6 – 1 in partial, with coach Mauro Gubitosa who wisely in the last 3 minutes at 12 to 7 and with an unassailable result in favor of the locals, opted to the further use of the youngest members of the squad.
