Ciro Polito he is no longer the sporting director of Bari for almost 20 days now and it has recently become that of Catanzaro. However, the manager was keen to greet the city and the Apulian fans after 3 years of work in that square, entrusting a thought of his to Instagram:

“TO THE RED AND WHITE PEOPLE. A few days have passed. It was a necessary time to work off a large amount of emotions and sensations. I certainly cannot leave without saying goodbye to a place that I immediately felt was MINE, which overwhelmed me with warmth, attention and affection. I am aware that this last year has not lived up to the ambitions of this splendid Piazza, as I remember having found, upon my arrival, a tested, disheartened environment, the constant, daily work, we managed to live emotions that will remain within me forever: that stadium full of people, passion, love, is just one of the most incredible memories we gave each other. We shared so many joys, so many tears, so many indescribable emotions.
This year it’s true I didn’t satisfy you as I wanted and DESERVED, this is undeniable, but what I can guarantee is that I have always given my best, fought with all my strength. This has been a really difficult season, but I really couldn’t accept losing what we had worked so hard to regain, of being remembered like this, for a relegation. I was lucky enough to experience an incredible city; I met extraordinary people, many friends to whom I will remain tied forever. There have been protests and difficult moments, but I understand it well. This Piazza lives the shirt in an extraordinary way, feels it on him, it’s a visceral love. For my part, I can only thank every single Fan, from the bottom of my heart, for making me feel at home and for giving me special affection. And then I would like to thank those who have been close to me every day on this splendid journey, starting with President Luigi De Laurentiis, who granted me this important opportunity. All the coaches and all the technical staff with whom I have been able to collaborate over the years; the medical staff, the warehouse workers, the Secretariat, the Communications Office and all those who work in the offices on a daily basis; the youth sector, the collaborators and obviously all MY players. This year the boys followed me to the end, to the joy of staying in Serie B, an achievement that had been achieved.”
