The Valbelluna cycle/pedestrian ring is in the Veneto Green tour: “We must overcome parochialism to start projects that enhance the territory”

VALBELLUNA. Signed by Municipalities of Valbelluna and by other stakeholders, including the Bim Piave ConsortiumL’Ulss 1 Dolomites and the Belluno Dolomites National Parkthe memorandum of understanding which will insert the cycle/pedestrian ring within the paths of the Green tour Veneto. The project is thus completed with the province of Belluno and its capital.

Green tour is a strategic territorial regeneration project aimed at promoting the health and psychophysical well-being of citizens through the encouragement to discover the territory with slow mobility, which applies both to residents and to the numerous tourists who frequent our territory even using existing guidelines such as the via Claudia Augusta or the Munich-Venice.

The works have been open since mayor of Santa Giustina Ivan Minella who declared his willingness to host this institutional moment by virtue of the fact that the municipality is located in the center of Valbelluna and then focused on the project and how tourism and cycling can create solid foundations for building the future of the territory Belluno: “We need to create more and more tables to implement and plan promotion and investment policies, going beyond the logic of bell towers, because this means putting projects and funds on the ground and creating opportunities to enhance the territory. By doing so, we can offer an increasingly structured service to citizens and the many tourists who travel around the valley. However, cycle paths will increasingly need to be accompanied by hospitality and other services that the region is already encouraging with dedicated tenders in order to create a single coordinated and complete system”.

The representative of the Veneto Region for the Green tour project, Enrico Specchio, specifically explained what actions have been carried out and future prospects: “The project is based on two main pillars which are the creation of a 600 kilometer cycle/pedestrian path with eight main backbones that extend across 6 provinces, also crossing into Lombardy and of Ferrara, and the desire to make citizens and tourists do physical activity with the aim of carrying out health prevention work since it has been scientifically tested that 40 minutes of physical activity, carried out constantly, clearly reduces cancer. Wanting to intercept the slow mobility tourist, because we know that he is a ‘rich’ tourist who wants to travel and get to know the territory he passes through while staying in the territory and spending in the territory, we also wanted to study health menus, with catering facilities present on the route validated by the Local Health Authorities, to also have a correct eating style”.

As regards the healthcare company, Commissioner Giuseppe Dal Ben he stated how important it is for the company to adhere to the protocol and that it is part of a broad project of the Veneto Region which focuses on the health of the individual through the development of a series of activities and of good practices to help you stay as healthy as possible. “Green tour fully captures both physical activity and healthy eating and it is therefore very positive to have also included the province of Belluno in the system”.

The creation of the Valbelluna ring was desired by Fable which, in the words of Claudio Giacchetti, pointed out that the history of the ring starts in 2000 when a Belluno – Feltre connection was thought of. The route was then defined through the work of the various bodies that have invested in the area over the years, and by carrying out a meticulous inspection of the area we created a predominantly asphalted route, almost entirely on cycle paths or low-traffic roads, which runs alongside the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, intersects with the Claudia Augusta and the Monaco-Venice, allows intermodality, a vision of a variety of landscapes, the crossing of historic villages and is also useful for daily journeys. Thanks to the Bim Piave Consortium, a map and a website were created to raise awareness of the ring and now the route is also present in the Green tour and its communication channels.

Bim Piave Consortium, whose president Marco Staunovo Polish he recalled that he represents the entire Piave valley and it is for this reason that he makes himself available with his structure and acts as a leader in the projects; he then thanked the board of directors who have carried out the planning of the ring for years and hoped that this cycle/pedestrian project can be extended to the rest of the provincial territory as well as hoping that we will continue to work together to bring more results like this.

Synergy which was also highlighted by the representative of the municipality of Cesiomaggiorewhich also houses the bicycle museum, as well as from mayor of Feltre Viviana Fusarofrom the mayor of Borgo Valbelluna Stefano Cesa while thetourism councilor of the Municipality of Belluno Paolo Luciani as well as the mayor of Limana Michele Talo and the mayor of Sedico Christian Roldo they placed the emphasis on encouraging, as administrators, the creation of tourist services collateral to the cycle/pedestrian path.
