TRENT. Seven hundred thousand euros which will be transferred from the coffers of the Municipality of Trento to those of Itea, with what we can easily define as an “extraordinary contribution”so that the Trentino Housing Building Institute can renovate in a short time (maximum by the end of 2025) around thirty apartments located in the municipal area and currently uninhabited because they require major renovation works.

The measure is contained within the budget change approved Wednesday evening by the city council. THE 700 thousand euros will be a “surplus” compared to the annual rent paid by the municipality to Itea, with the specific objective of making the approximately 30 apartments usable (a third of which located in via Gocciadoro and via Conci), currently considered “surplus” and, therefore, uninhabited, in the face of numerous requests for accommodation at subsidized rent.

“There was a need to speed up operations – explains the municipal councilor for community welfare Alberto Pedrotti – and, given that Itea was not able to intervene immediately on the 30 apartments owned by the municipality – I would like to underline not out of bad will -, located in the territory under our jurisdiction, as an Administration we decided to bear the costs to support the works of restructuring, entrusting the management of the tenders and works to those who will certainly be able to do it in a shorter time and with less outlay. Or Itea. We hope that, within a year and a half, the houses will be ready to be assigned according to the ranking. The one linked to the housing emergency is a problem that must be addressed immediately, deploying all the tools at our disposal. Fortunately, the resources to intervene were there and, therefore, we moved on to the facts. It is a concrete and significant act on the part of the Municipality of Trento and the demonstration that, on our part, there is a willingness to collaborate to resolve important issues. With Itea the dialogue is continuous and productive: we are now waiting for a detailed “timetable” regarding the interventions and related timing”.

Mayor Franco Ianeselli also spoke about the affair in a long post with which he recounted what happened on Wednesday evening during the city council (and did not fail to throw a dig at the minority) and reiterating that “perhaps the biggest problem of our era is precisely the lack of care towards things and above all towards people”.

“We were looking for arms, men arrived – the mayor of Trento comments on his channels –: Max Frisch wrote it about Italian emigrants in Switzerland, but it also applies today, as revealed by the atrocious story of the Indian laborer dumped on the street, with an amputated arm, in the countryside of the province of Latina. There were many of us in the City Council yesterday (Wednesday, ed.) thinking about this inhumane death, even if the minorities tried to make us passionate about the proposal to name the dog areas after Lassie, Rin Tin Tin and Laika: a theme which, with all the good for four-legged friends, it is not among our priorities.

The contents of the budget change approved last night are, however, priorities: housing policies, with additional support for those who are unable to pay the rent, the funds transferred to Itea to renovate municipal properties that are currently unused, the project for a workers’ hostel. And the new nursery at the Interporto ready for September, to reduce the waiting lists. Maintenance of school buildings, parks and association headquarters, new sidewalks that keep pedestrians safe, additional services for disabled people, funds to build the new Olympic swimming pool at Ghiaie and complete the redevelopment of Manazzon and Trento Nord .

Together with the majority, we wanted to write a budget of care and attention to the needs of citizens, without exception. Because perhaps the biggest problem of our era is precisely the lack of care towards things and above all towards people”.
