the traditional summer arena returns

Ravenna, 20 June 2024 – With the national premiere ‘Hit Man’ by Richard Linklater, scheduled for Wednesday 26 June at 9.30pm, the traditional summer arena ‘Rocca Cinema’ kicks off in Ravenna, always under the banner of Cinemaincentro management.

A debut in an absolutely new guise. The redevelopment works ongoing, which are of interest the area of ​​Rocca Brancaleone usually intended for film screenings, they have imposed a change of location for summer 2024.

The screenings will always be inside the Rocca Brancaleone, with the new arena which will however be built in front of the traditional entrance to the cinema, in the northern part of the park. There are 300 seats, a 2K cinema projector and a 5×8 meter screen. The program will be divided into two parts: the first until the end of July, the second from August to mid-September, in order to best include national previews and guests during the summer. Also the 2024 season will see the collaboration of the Sogni club with the presentation of some of the best short films admired during the last edition of the Corti da Sogni – Antonio Ricci festival.

The collaboration with Cinemaincentro is increasingly solid and the summer event represents a great opportunity to re-propose the works most appreciated during the short film festival.

First dates are for Thursday 27 June with the biting German work ‘Enjoy your meal’ by Sofie Kienzle and Christian Manzle and for Thursday 4 July with the Iranian short, winner of the Film School Award, ‘Katvoman’ by Hadi Sheibani. The winning work of the Green Planet section will be screened on Tuesday 9 July: the French ‘La Montée’ by David Tessier which talks about the world of information and climate change. On July 25th, the South Korean ‘Busan, 1999’ will be broadcast, best international short at the 25th edition of Corti da Sogni, combined with the film Past Lives”. The collaboration with Soundscreen Festival is also renewed which will accompany the presentation of some music-themed films starting from July 3rd with “Back to Black”, portrait of Amy Winehousethe British singer who died prematurely at the age of 27.

The fruitful collaboration with Amata Brancaleone also continues, the association that enthusiastically deals with the promotion of Rocca Brancaleone as a public park and place of social gathering. In the second part of the summer there will be an evening organized together with Amata Brancaleone to promote its activities. Special evenings are also planned with a gastronomic theme, in collaboration with the managers of the Rocca bar, which will be announced from time to time during the summer. ‘Rocca Cinema’ joins ‘Cinema Revolution – What a spectacle the summer’, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture.
