The beach soccer European Championships in Tirrenia

Thursday 20 June 2024 – 3.40pm

Twelve national teams and over a thousand people involved, including staff and athletes. It is about theInternational Beach Soccer Tirrenia who, in the final phase of the qualifications, will be welcomed by the Olympic Preparation Centre, from 3 to 7 July. The Superfinal will be played from 10 to 15 September in Alghero, also home to the last edition, won by Italy itself.

The adventure starts from here Emiliano Del Duca’s boys who are chasing their second consecutive titlesomething that has never happened in the history of the Italian national beach soccer team, which can still boast three successes (2023, 2018 and 2005).

“We want qualification for the Superfinal to be central – comments coach Emiliano Del Duca – possibly by winning the tournament. The great organizational machine of the Football Federation was directly involved in organizing this great event and this makes us proud: we want to show everyone the great value of Italian beach soccer.” Also because Italy is the reigning European champion. “If it is true that we will have very little time to prepare, because this event is part of a very busy calendar, in which the players are busy carrying out the championship, it is equally true – he adds – that we have reached such a level that, regardless of everything, we must always aim to win. We are the number one team in Europe and the number two in the world, the objective is to take the last step we are missing. However, we will not present ourselves with the presumption of being the strongest because we are at the top of the ranking.”

In short, the matches will not be easy. “Estonia has an excellent playing system, Denmark was the surprise of the last World Cup qualifiers and Czechia is also a strong and organized team. We will have to approach the tournament in the best possible way, rediscovering the dynamics of the game and that desire to winning that have always distinguished us”, concludes Del Duca.

The presentation press conference will be held on the morning of Tuesday 2 July at the Sala delle Baleari of the Municipality of Pisa, while in the late afternoon, in Piazza dei Miracoli there will be the inaugural ceremony.
