ROME. Tornate the tests of the It-Alert public warning system: from Tuesday 25 June to Wednesday 3 July one will be carried out series of simulations in Lombardy, Friuli Venezia Giulia and in the province of Trento to verify the functionality of the messaging system developed by the Civil Protection. As in the case of previous tests, whoever receives the test message has nothing to fear and will not have to do anything except read the message which refers to the web page of the IT-alert website where it will be possible to view the text of the real message that citizens they would receive in the event of an alarm for that specific risk. On the page there will also be a link to the questionnaire, which both those who have correctly received the message and those who, despite being in the test area, have not received the notification are invited to answer.

The new tests are designed for specific risks: in the province of Trento and in Lombardy, in the provinces of Pavia, Lodi, Milan and Bergamo, a significant industrial accident will be simulated, while in Friuli Venezia Giulia the test will concern the collapse of a large dam in province of Pordenone.

For these two risks, as for those relating to nuclear accidents or radiological emergency situations and volcanic activity in the areas of Campi Flegrei, Vesuvius and the island of Vulcano – the Department recalls – IT-Alert has been operational since 13 February. All information on the IT-alert system and the complete calendar of scheduled tests are available on the IT-alert.gov.it website although the dates could change if the regional civil protection systems find themselves involved in real emergencies.
