The summer ranking of the projects supported by the Department of Sport and Youth Policies of the Municipality of Arezzo was presented at Informagiovani, with the usual announcement that offered 30 thousand euros in contributions for 15 projects, and will offer another 15 thousand for 8 projects autumnal. “The department’s support activity continues for all those youth, cultural, sporting and recreational associations which, thanks to the work of many volunteers, animate the city with activities aimed at young people and adolescents. Very often it is the same kids who from users become organizers and vice versa, through a process that often leads to professionalization and the creation of job opportunities, born from the bottom: one more reason for the Administration to support these activities”, he commented the councilor Federico Scapecchi. “The summer 2024 ranking sees a great variety of events and demonstrations, some already held in recent weeks, others which will take place in various areas of the city in the next three months. There is space for music, theatre, sport, solidarity, culture and history, a sign that year after year this opportunity made available by the Municipality of Arezzo stimulates the best young minds in the area to create events of all kinds ”.
The first three classified of this edition are Malpighi Festival of the Arezzo che Spacca Association, Warehouse Decibel Festival of the Music Association! and Imbarchi Lab of the La Filostoccola Association. These are the top three projects in the ranking.
MALPIGHI FESTIVAL – IV EDITION
Now in its fourth edition, the Malpighi Festival is a social promotion event managed by young people and aimed at young people, which will take place in the first three days of August 2024 in one of the peripheral areas of the city of Arezzo, among the public housing between Via Malpighi and Via Fiorentina, with the aim of involving and activating citizens, especially those under 35, in the processes of carrying out the activities, which include training courses, master classes, live music events, exhibitions and above all this year, various social initiatives. The main objective of the Festival, in fact, is to offer an opportunity for growth, in terms of professional as well as personal enhancement, to the entire population and to a segment of citizens residing in a marginal area notoriously among the least attractive of the city. This will happen through the event management courses, which have already been partly implemented and which have led the students themselves to become festival planners and permanent operators of the association, the theater courses where the students will be protagonists of a show within the festival, the painting and comics courses with Pera Toons from Arezzo as a guest and the works of the students exhibited in the exhibition organized in the location of the festival, the creation of an artistic work by Niro Perrone dedicated to Vasari but in a contemporary key, as well as dedicated to Vasari will be the five-a-side football tournament in the adjacent municipal pitch, in the year in which Arezzo remembers its illustrious fellow citizen 450 years after his death. There is also space for music with DJ sets and live performances, with young artists and established bands such as Colla Zio and Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti. There will also be a refreshment area and a miniature edition of the Flea Market, dedicated to the theme of recycling and reuse.
WAREHOUSE DECIBEL FESTIVAL 2024 – XI EDITION
Warehouse Decibel Festival 2024 is divided into eight overall events, from 4 August to 6 September, presenting moments of concerts and performances by young local artists flanked by artists of national importance in moments of training, debate and in-depth analysis on environmental themes such as recycling, reuse and waste reduction. The event on August 4th at Casa dell’Energia in Arezzo will present a debate on the above-mentioned topics followed by performances by young bands and DJs from the Arezzo area. On 6, 17 and 24 August the event will present a musical proposal focused on jazz at Terrazza Bruschi in Arezzo. On 3, 4 and 5 September at Casa dell’Energia in Arezzo three evenings will be held with debates on environmental issues followed by performances by young artists, both in the jazz and electronic music fields and finally on 6 September at Area Verde in Aisa Impianti in San Zeno will host the eleventh edition of the festival, with a day of concerts with free admission, firstly featuring emerging and already established local bands, and then with the closing of the evening entrusted to Tropea, Nello Taver and La SAD, artists of the highest level, protagonists between X-Factor and the latest Sanremo festival.
BOARDING LAB
The IMBARCHI Festival – Theatre, music and meetings, the first edition of which will be organized on 5-6-7 July 2024 with the support of the Guido d’Arezzo Foundation, offers two workshop paths aimed at the new generations, in particular the 16-35 years.
The first “Question of glances” is a theater criticism workshop, aimed at girls and boys from high schools in Arezzo, university students and in general anyone under 35 who wishes to approach this experience, which will allow them an unprecedented and the close encounter with the artists of the Festival.
The second event will be a masterclass of Advanced Theater Training directed by Lisa Ferlazzo Natoli and Alessandro Ferroni of the Lacasad clay company, aimed both at professional actors and actresses from all over Italy but also at student actors from the various theater schools of Arezzo and the province, under 35.
