A couple of young people residing in Modica Alta was arrested in flagrante delicto For theft of electricity and damage to two meters owned by ENEL.
The couple, who had the availability of two apartments belonging to a single building with separate entrances had tampered with the home’s meter managing to connect to a second meter, which was itself altered, from which they unduly drew electricity for domestic use, despite the fact that the two had been deactivated for a long time.
This tampering did not escape the attention of the Police Officers also thanks to the intervention of specialized personnel who noted the improper supply of electricity as well as the damage to the two installed meters. The two meters, in this way, were among other things become dangerous due to the risk of fire. They were therefore removed.
The two young people, a 31 year old man and his 27 year old partner were arrested flagrantly and placed under house arrest at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. Previous cases for crimes against property have also emerged against the two (in particular the young man was reported by the officers less than two months ago for a theft against a tobacconist’s bar in Modica).
