The training workshops of the “SPREAD” project in the province of Catanzaro have concluded

The cycle of training workshops organized as part of the “SPREAD” project (Preventive strategies to combat behavioral and abuse addictions) concluded in recent days.

Funded by the Council of Ministers, Anti-Drug Policies Department for the 2022 year, the project aims to combat addictions among young people, promoting prevention and well-being in the young generations in the 80 municipalities of the province of Catanzaro.

The Calabrian Solidarity Center Ets is responsible for the activities in which “SPREAD” develops in collaboration with the “Zarapoti” social cooperative and the “Progetto Sud” community association.

The training events saw the participation of social workers, parents, teachers and other subjects interested in the topic of behavioral and substance addictions. The workshops took place in Catanzaro, in the Multipurpose Center in via Fontana Vecchia “Maurizio Rossi”, and in Lamezia Terme, in the headquarters of the “Progetto Sud” Community.

The workshops – curated by Giorgio Marcello, Gianfranco Merando, Marisa Meduri and Claudio Falbo and Giorgia Ritrovato – had the objective of providing participants with information, experiences and case studies on the phenomenon of addictions, with particular focus on behavioral and substance addictions. The intent was to strengthen the cognitive, socio-interpersonal, emotional and affective skills of the participants, providing them with the necessary tools to prevent and combat addictions among young people.

During the meetings, a series of topics were explored in depth, including: how to deal with problems and decide; learning to learn; communicate effectively; collaborate; be assertive; manage conflicts and negotiate; show empathy; prevent and manage distress, anger and aggression.

In the coming weeks the activities of the Calabrian Solidarity Center Ets, the “Zarapoti” social cooperative and the “Progetto Sud” Community Association will continue to promote the prevention and treatment of addictions, offering the young generations tools and opportunities to grow in a healthy and responsible.
