Ryanair announces flights from Salerno Airport – Amalfi Coast and from August 3 other new routes

Ryanair, the number 1 airline in Europe and Italy, announced on Tuesday 18 June that it will begin operations atAirport Of Salerno-Amalfi Coast from August 2024, offering 16 weekly flights on 3 exciting new routes, and creating over 100 new local jobs.

Salerno will become the 32nd Italian airport in the increasingly extensive Ryanair network, which continues to invest, guarantee connectivity and jobs more than any other airline in Italy. Ryanair’s 3 exciting new routes will offer direct connections from Salerno to London Stansted, Milan Bergamo and Turin this summer, stimulating inbound tourism and business opportunities, as well as providing greater connectivity for Campania citizens and visitors with lowest rates in Europe.

Ryanair’s new flight to Salerno will include:

  • 3 new routes – London Stansted, Milan Bergamo and Turin
  • 16 weekly flights to/from Salerno
  • Over 130,000 total passengers per year
  • Over 100 new jobs

While Ryanair is launching new routes and delivering growth in Salerno, unfortunately we have been forced to reduce connectivity in nearby Naples due to the unjustifiable 30% increase in municipal surtax/tourism tax.

Following the recent decision of the Council of State to abolish a similar unjustifiable tax increase in Venice, the city of Naples is now an exception, not only in Italy, but throughout Europe, where airports, cities and regions (including more recently Friuli-Venezia Giulia) are reducing access costs to guarantee greater connectivity, tourism and jobs.

Ryanair once again asks Mayor Manfredi to immediately abolish this unjustifiable 30% increase, as was done in Venice, to preserve connectivity, tourism and jobs, not only for the city of Naples, but also for the entire Campania region in view of the winter season.

The 6th said:

“As the #1 airline in Europe and Italy, Ryanair is delighted to announce that we are bringing Europe’s lowest fares to Salerno with the launch of over 16 weekly flights on 3 popular new routes including London Stansted, Milan Bergamo and Turin from August 2024. Ryanair’s new routes to/from Salerno will lead to significant growth in traffic and tourism, increasing options for citizens of Campania to travel for work, medical appointments or to visit friends and family.

We have worked closely with GESAC management to bring Ryanair’s low fares and greater connectivity to Salerno. To confirm our commitment to Salerno and the entire Campania region, we are pleased to confirm that the two national routes – Milan Bergamo and Turin – will continue into the 2024/25 winter season, offering more year-round connectivity, tourism and jobs for Salerno and the entire Campania region.

This incredible growth in Salerno is in stark contrast to the situation in Naples, where we have been forced to reduce connectivity due to the unjustifiable 30% increase in the municipal surcharge/tourism tax. We ask Mayor Manfredi again to urgently abolish this unjustifiable increase, as was done in Venice, to preserve connectivity, tourism and jobs in view of the winter season.

Ryanair also invites the Italian Government and other Municipalities to follow the example of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and completely abolish the additional municipal surcharge/tourism tax at all Italian airports, allowing Ryanair and other airlines to further increase their traffic, tourism and employment for Italy. If the Italian Government abolishes the regressive additional municipal/tourism tax, Ryanair will respond with a $4 billion investment in Italy, adding 40 new aircraft, an additional 20 million passengers per year, over 250 new routes and 1,500 new seats Work.

To celebrate Ryanair’s arrival in Salerno, Ryanair has launched a 3-day promotion on its 3 new routes with fares starting from €24.99 on sale only on ryanair.com”

Jason McGuinness (Ryanair) and Roberto Barbieri CEO Gesac

Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC, declared:

“The popularity and appreciation of the Irish airline, both in Italy and abroad, represent a significant added value to increase traffic volumes in Salerno and support the development of tourism and the local economy.

Thanks to Ryanair, the Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi airport consolidates its flight offer both on the national segment, with Bergamo and Turin all year round, and on the international segment, with the strengthening of connections with London. This partnership is the result of intense team work aimed at satisfying the mobility needs of citizens and the many tourists who wish to visit our region which can finally count on a second airport, with a stable flight offer and destined to grow .

After the extension of the runway, which allowed GESAC to close agreements with the three main low cost airlines on the national market, the work continues with the second phase of the Development Plan which envisages, among other investments, the further extension of the runway up to 2,200 meters and the construction, in 2026, of the new Passenger Terminal, of approximately 16 thousand square meters, which will reflect the highest environmental standards.”
