The new regional sustainability information and education program (INFEAS), relating to the three-year period 2024-2026, it was approved on Tuesday 11 June by the legislative assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region (resolution n.165 of 11.06.2024).

The new program will enhance previous projects and actions by strengthening connections and integrations (see infographic). It will develop following four macro areas: Climate crisis, Ecological transition, Cities and territories, Wellbeing, health and safety.

Macro areas which are at the same time key words, from which the degree of complexity and interconnection between the different themes that will be the subject of the educational paths emerges.

Education, participation, innovation
“INFEAS 2024-26 insists on the desire to anchor the educational and participatory function to the sustainability strategies and policies developed at local and regional level” states the head of Arpae’s CTR Sustainability Education, Paolo Tamburini “acting in continuity with previous experiences and developing the most innovative ones, also from a methodological point of view”.

“In particular, we intend to update the collaboration agreement between Sustainability Education Centres, Municipalities, Region, schools and families” continues Tamburini “promoting educational strategies, methods, tools and actions capable of communicating with the institutions and acting on the relationship and contribution of people in a logic bottom-upthrough participatory processes and the promotion of citizen science”.

“All this by experimenting with original languages and tools to facilitate active citizenship and support a new civility” concludes Tamburini “also by promoting contests, marathons of ideas, challenges in the creative and artistic field, to spread regenerative practices within the framework of an ethics and practice of sustainability”.

The budget of the INFEAS program 2020-2024
In summary, in the four-year period 2020-2023, 12 projects were developed in the regional territory, with 170 overall implementations by the regional Ceas, for a total of 2360 educational actions carried out in schools and local communities. The educational actions involved more than 118 thousand students from 5400 classes throughout the regional territory. It is also estimated that public events in the area (exhibitions, seminars, educational walks, etc.) have reached around 50,000 citizens. More than 290 news stories on the activity of the RES network have been published on the website, and the social channels are followed by more than 5000 people.

The new regional sustainability education network (RES)
Another novelty of INFEAS 2024-26 is that of the actors who will develop the regional program in the field. Following the Ceas accreditation procedure, which concluded in May, the RES was consolidated and strengthened, with the confirmation of all previously accredited Ceas and the arrival of new Centres, bringing new skills, ideas and energy. The official presentation of the new RES, now made up of 43 Ceas, is expected in the coming weeks.
