PESCARA. The objective is to act quickly, to launch a safety plan as soon as possible to guarantee the thousands of users who flock to the premises of the Pescara Riviera, especially on weekends. And so, after last week’s meeting at the Police Headquarters, between the State Police and representatives of the sector’s trade associations, today there is a new meeting. This time within the Silb Confcommercio which summoned its operators, around 14, to take stock of the emergencies and the measures to be taken to stem the episodes of violence that are being recorded, especially among very young people.
An emergency that the latest episodes (the 18-year-old stabbed ten days ago, and the 16-year-old punched and ended up in hospital in May, again in the Riviera nightlife area), have made it even more urgent to be addressed by those who put investments and professionalism.
The internal discussion is dictated by a precise deadline, and that is June 24th, the date on which the Police Headquarters adjourned the meeting with the associations to draw a line and understand what measures to take in collaboration with the locals. On the one hand there are the requests from the police to strengthen the video surveillance systems also within the areas intended for dancing events and, also, to increase the number of security personnel to be used for selection at the entrances of the premises. On the other hand, while agreeing with these measures, there is also a request from operators to be able to equip entrance workers with metal detectors, capable of identifying knives or other objects that could put those just going to have fun at risk.
