“A watermaker ship off the coast”

A watermaker on a ship positioned off the coast of Agrigento to supply the city immediately. Almost.

The proposal was relaunched through a press note by Codacons with its transparency manager Giuseppe Di Rosa, who defines it as “an immediate solution to the water crisis”.

Dossier – Dry taps and water lost on the street: Agrigento’s new water network has been held hostage by bureaucracy for 15 years

“More than two months have passed since Mayor Franco Miccichè threatened to renounce the title of Italian city of culture 2025 – he says in a note – but what has been concretely done since then? The Agrigento community, increasingly dissatisfied, is asking for answers clear and immediate actions to improve the conditions of the city. Today, some municipalities in the province are in dramatic conditions due to the serious water shortage, with distribution shifts that exceed the week. We propose an immediate solution: the use of a desalination vessel positioned on the sea of San Leone and connected to the city’s water supply. This solution could quickly solve one of the most critical problems for the community, guaranteeing water supply in a short time.

Codacons also asks and appeals to the first citizens: “Distinguished mayors, if you are there, strike – he writes -! Inform the citizens of what is happening, of the real reasons and of the interventions you are implementing to avoid serious hygiene problems -sanitary”.

“The Agrigento community – he concludes – impatiently awaits concrete actions on the part of Mayor Miccichè and the municipal administration. It is essential to make the best use of the allocated funds and implement innovative solutions, such as the desalination vessel, to solve the city’s problems. Only in this way Agrigento will be able to fully exploit the title of Italian city of culture and offer a better future to its citizens.”
