Subject: appeal to male and female senators to modify decree law no. 76 and increase the
maximum compensation of 6,000 euros for movable property destroyed or damaged
from the flood in Emilia-Romagna.
Dear senators, gentle senators,
for the feeling that binds you so strongly to Emilia-Romagna and its citizens
affected by the flood of May 2023, and who after more than a year are still in a condition of
great inconvenience and difficulty, I appeal to you to propose an amendment that brings
to increase the ceiling of 6,000 euros per home as a compensation contribution to
movable property destroyed or seriously damaged, provided for in article 1 paragraph 6-quater of
decree-law n.76, containing “Urgent provisions for post-disaster reconstruction, for
civil protection interventions and for the holding of major international events”.
The figures established for the compensation of movable property damaged by the flood – 3,200 euros for the room
used as a kitchen” and “further 700 euros for each of the other rooms, up to a maximum amount
total of 6,000 euros” – are absolutely insufficient to compensate for the enormous damages
caused by flood events which in many cases destroyed the entire furniture of the home,
appliances included.
Therefore for the good of our Emilia-Romagna communities, I ask you to propose the correction
of the norm, leading to an increase in the ceiling to a plausible figure, which takes into account the
real situation in which many families find themselves; from the information I have collected in recent months
damage to movable property – even without considering vehicles, as should be done –
in several cases they would reach close to 30,000 euros.
