The tenth congress of the International Society of «Code Biology» organized in its historic headquarters by the Lunigianese Academy of Sciences “G. Capellini”, with the patronage of the Municipality of La Spezia, the logistical support of the Cinque Terre National Park and with the collaboration of the “G. Puccini”. The event, of international importance, was opened by the President of the Capellini Academy, prof. Giuseppe Benelli and the President of the International Society of Code Biology, prof. Marcello Barbieri, in the presence of the Prefect of La Spezia, Dr. Maria Luisa Inversini, of the Mayor of the Municipality of La Spezia, Dr. Pierluigi Peracchini, of the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri of La Spezia, Colonel Matteo Gabelloni, and of the Mayor of the Municipality of Fivizzano , Mr. Gianluigi Giannetti, representing the Lunigiana area, and took place under the scientific supervision of prof. Almo Farina, of the University of Urbino.
Thirty scientists from 15 different countries participated in the congress, with talks that addressed a vast repertoire of scientific expertise. Geneticists, linguists, theoretical physicists, mathematicians, psychologists, philosophers and cyberneticians discussed “Code Biology”, the new scientific frontier that ranges from genetic codes to linguistic codes, addressing the macrostructures in which life is organised. This constantly evolving discipline has already allowed the discovery of many new linguistic, ecological, acoustic, economic, industrial and social codes, cataloging over three hundred to date. The congress, among the many topics debated, fully brought out a universal concept: life is a very complex biological process, made possible by the presence of tools, namely codes, which connect the internal components of every being living being, the genetic codes, and also the different species with the outside world, with the environment, through what are defined as ecological codes.
