Bugetti: “Now to Rome to give Prato the attention it deserves”

“Thank you for the trust you placed in me. I will try hard but I need all of you to better manage this splendid city. Always make me feel your closeness. It is only together that we can win this challenge.” These are the words with which the new mayor of Prato, Ilaria Bugetti, kicked off the celebration for her electoral victory in the first round at the head of a broad centre-left coalition. The Buonamici garden last night, 17 June, was packed with people to toast with the first mayor in the history of the city to the victory achieved in the municipal elections of 8 and 9 June, which keeps the leadership of the Municipality in the hands of the Democratic Party after the double mandate by Matteo Biffoni, also present at the party. There were also the landlord, the president of the Province and newly confirmed mayor of Montemurlo, Simone Calamai, the regional councilors Monia Monni and Stefano Ciuoffo, the secretaries of the Tuscan and Prato PD, Emiliano Fossi and Marco Biagioni respectively, and the member of the Democratic Party Marco Furfaro. In addition to representatives of all the political forces and civic lists, many friends and supporters were also present.

Before starting the music of DJ and friend Biba, Bugetti intervened to indicate her “road map” for the next few months. “My idea is to go to Rome in the next few weeks. – stated Bugetti – This is why I also want to involve our parliamentarians. It is important to understand how to plan the work to avoid the risk of further cuts and to respond to all those requests that come from the territory. I think of the ax of almost 600 thousand euros on the current part of the budget as an absurd penalty for having obtained too many Pnrr funds; I am thinking of the refreshments for the flood victims who have not yet arrived; I am thinking of the cuts in the rent fund and finally I am thinking of the desire expressed by everyone to make the contribution to support the competitiveness of the textile district structural. We must work together with the economic categories and political forces of the city to recognize Prato the role it deserves in Tuscany and in Italy”.

And now to work on the council and on the reorganization of the municipal machinery in order to be able to start with momentum in the realization of the electoral program. Before leaving the Buonamici garden, a gift full of symbolic meanings also arrives: the plums from the tree of the Le Buche beekeeping oasis in Poggio a Caiano, dedicated to Ilaria Bugetti on the occasion, some time ago, of her visit as regional councilor.
