For years Lapressa.it has offered free and independent information to its readers without any type of public contribution. Private advertising covers part of the costs, but it is not sufficient. For this reason we ask those who read us and follow us every day to give us, if they wish, a contribution based on their possibilities. Even a small support, multiplied by the tens of thousands of people from Modena and Emilia-Romagna who read us every day, is fundamental.

There has been a lot of talk in recent days about the apparently disappointing electoral results of the centre-right in the province. And someone went further: attributing blame to Senator Michele Barcaiuolo, as leader of the coalition. The fault of having lost badly almost everywhere, with abysmal gaps. Especially in the main municipalities, first of all Modena and Carpi, where his close collaborators and direct family members were nominated. But also Maranello, Formigine, Fiorano, Castelfranco, Sassuolo, up to municipalities such as Medolla, San Poxidenio, Concordia, everywhere with rare exceptions. Even where the centre-right has a majority in the European elections but lost big in the municipal elections. But this reading of the data is too approximate, because it derives from the classic post-election crisis and from the allies’ desire to shift the blame onto the leader of the moment.

Because Barcaiuolo, as a great leader, won.

The 30 point gap doesn’t count and he moves on to Modena; the gap of 25 points and passes to Carpi; the gap of 30 points in the small municipalities, despite the substantial parity or the advantage of the center-right – a sign that all the candidates were wrong. No, it doesn’t count, Barcaiuolo is right. Modena’s is a historic result. Like that of Carpi, as his wife Annalisa Arletti correctly declared in a recent statement. Because politics is much more than winning or losing. It takes patience, vision, foresight. It’s like planting great seeds, watering them, and waiting and hoping for the sun to come. And that from the seeds a new quality political class is produced, capable of overturning every prediction in the decades to come.

Because the fallen grain of wheat that dies is not alone, and bears fruit, in the ratio of ten to one or even more.

And then do we want to talk about allies? Of their lists, certainly not as competitive as Barcaiuolo’s? Do we want to talk about their preferences, certainly not like those of the Brothers of Italy? Luckily the allies were crushed in numbers and elected representatives. And that these elections produce opposition lists with greater credibility than those of five years ago, so much so that they can finally form quality council groups. Not like Prampolini and Boccaletti’s League of 2019, so to speak.

Then in all this there is the silence of the PD. Barcaiuolo managed to silence the PD. No one to say anything, no one to shout victory, no one to say that the leader of FdI made a mistake, let’s not say everything, but just something. Indeed: it almost seems that the leaders of the large party, led by Roberto Solomita, are asking the leader of the right to continue like this. And beyond: to export these excellent results wherever possible, he who is regional President of FdI, not just Modena. Starting from the next regional elections, in which Barcaiuolo, given the excellent results, will undoubtedly be the top collaborator, the strategist of Galeazzo Bignami, true leader of the historic right and soul of FdI in the region.
As humble descendants of farmers, however, we allow ourselves an observation to Barcaiuolo: if you plant the seeds in June, even if they are excellent, and the seedlings come out, then the sun that is too high burns them. Perhaps this is precisely the political purpose, of course: because plants that are too tall could then create too much shade.
