Virtus Bologna will also play in the next Euroleague: the news, already in the air for days, after the renewed commitment of the Segafredo group for the sponsorship, is now official. The ECA board, Euroleague Commercial Assets, meeting in Barcelona, made the 18 teams of the next edition official which will begin on October 3 and will have the same formula as the one that has just ended, therefore including play-ins, which are fatal for Virtus. Valencia remains out to make way for Paris, winner of the EurocupEurocup which will be played, like last year, by Venice and Trento. Also in the next season we will have two teams in the top European club competition, Olimpia Milano, fresh champion of Italy and equipped with a ten-year license, and Virtus Bologna. A painful wild card, long in doubt but deserved: for the history of this team, the last Italian to win the Euroleague – it was 2001 – but also for what was done in the season just ended with the playoffs missed and the first part passed to the top of the ranking. For Bologna, therefore, the market can also begin in a more incisive way given that now the club can put the Euroleague on the table to keep its best players, for example Shengelia, or attract new ones. In this sense, however, the games have already begun, for the future, hopefully, this news from the Euroleague board can arrive a little sooner.
