Health, Lucente (Lombardy): “Venous thrombosis, a pathology that affects our drivers”

(Adnkronos) – “I am honored to welcome both the world of healthcare and the world of transport together in the Lombardy Region. When it was proposed to also talk about healthcare in the transport sector, I became curious and decided to continue this initiative, as safety in the world of work is fundamental and a priority. For the Lombardy Region it is an important aspect: a lot is being invested and I believe that, if we have to give maximum safety to those traveling on our public transport, it is also necessary that those who use these vehicles are protected, preserved and above all controlled so that they can offer the best service”. This was said by Franco Lucente, Councilor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Lombardy Region, on the occasion of the event ‘Prevention in travel. #piùmovimentomenotrombosi’, organized by the Lombardy Region in collaboration with the Vincere la Trombosi association at the Marco Biagi room of Palazzo Lombardia in Milan.

“To do this it is necessary to address certain issues: in this conference, entitled ‘Prevention on the road’, it is no coincidence that we talked about venous thrombosis, one of the pathologies that our drivers can suffer in the exercise of their duties and we discussed how to preserve and address the problem together with the speakers who also interface with the world of public transport – explains Lucente – Although it may seem distant from the world of transport, it is actually a very close topic thanks to the safety and prevention objective that we want achieve within a sector, that of transport, which must also be preserved towards users”.

We “transport over 780 thousand passengers a day by rail – recalls the councilor – and we should reach one million passengers. On rubber we are at one million and 200 thousand, therefore a notable number. Ten million citizens who travel by road must be enabled to travel in maximum safety: it is a world, that of transport, as well as that of healthcare, which is aimed at a much wider audience than the citizens of Lombardy – he underlines – all tourists arriving in the Lombardy Region and beyond, so we address the whole world. For this reason, the objectives aimed at an intervention linked to prevention and safety lead us to say that it is necessary to invest in the future, preserve human resources and improve the quality of the services we offer to citizens”. “To do this, it is also important to compare it with the world of healthcare, which involves, also in terms of users, the same numbers that we have in the world of transport. This is not the only conference we will hold on health and transport. We will also do others, trying to protect and preserve our employees and workers,” he concludes.
