Shadows over the withdrawal of the Municipality of Salerno from the pharmaceutical consortium. Aurelio Tommasetti, Campania regional councilor of the League, raises the alarm on the possible risks and implications linked to the decision which was ratified during the last session of the City Council. “The Consortium’s numbers, and I am referring in particular to the documents released on the accounting situation, are worrying. As regards 2022, there is talk of an operating loss of over 11 million euros. Numbers that could have an impact on the Municipality of Salerno, whose participation share is equal to a third”.
Tommasetti raises doubts above all about the timing with which the procedure approved by the Council was arrived at. “The withdrawal was officially motivated by the desire to acquire new resources for the deficit. But it cannot be ruled out that the 2022 data itself led the Municipality to a sort of escape. At this point the question is clear: are we certain that this procedure will have no consequences for the municipal coffers? Simply put, are we sure that leaving the Consortium, in the absence of coverage of the deficit, will not entail further expenses for the Municipality?”.
For the regional councilor, “whoever wanted to take this path should give clear answers. Also because, if the Municipality were forced to dig into its pockets, the taxpayers would, as usual, lose out”.
