New concrete help comes from Paviawhere it was decided to allow local farms to donate their surplus to the charity, helping to support people in need. This is the objective of the protocol signed between Confagricoltura and the Lombardy Food Bank in the presence of the regional councilor for the Family, Elena Lucchini.

Confagricoltura Pavia and Banco Alimentare: agreement for the recovery of agricultural surpluses for the benefit of the needy

«Thanks to this agreement signed as part of the conference on food and solidarity – he said Elena Lucchini – we strengthen the connection between the institutions in our territory. Since 2017, thanks to the regional tender that promotes and protects the ‘Right to Food’ and combats food waste, we have directly supported this extraordinary reality of solidarity and sustainability that is the Food Bank. Our Region contributes, in fact, with autonomous resources for a total of 3,309,000 euros for the years 2022-2024, to support the collection and distribution of food surpluses for solidarity purposes, in favor of people who are unable to have sufficient food , safe and nutritious enough to guarantee a balanced diet and a healthy life.”

The protocol is a fundamental step to strengthen collaboration between the agricultural sector and solidarity organisations. «We are proud to be able to contribute concretely to the fight against food waste and to promoting the value of food. Thanks to law 166 of 2016, known as ‘anti-waste’ – he underlined Marta Sempio, President of Confagricoltura Pavia – we can give a second life to food surpluses, transforming them into a resource for those who need it most. It is a virtuous example of how companies and organizations can work together for a common goal.”
