Transport, Acconcia: “Ready to lead the change in regional mobility”

Avellino

Another 100 buses to regional local public transport companies. This morning in Avellino the Governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca, together with the president of the regional Transport Commission, Luca Cascone, and the general director of ACaMIR, Maria Teresa Di Mattia, participated in the delivery of the new buses to the regional company led by the manager Anthony Acconcia.

New buses

Eleven vehicles presented: 4 Ayats Horizon double-deck diesel engines from the Di Maio workshops, 4 methane (CNG) Indcar Mobi engines on a 7-metre Iveco base and 3 Vivacity, 8 meter diesel engines, from IIA. The new buses combine efficiency, safety, comfort, accessibility and sustainability. They are equipped with video surveillance and infomobility systems, passenger counting and digital systems for validating tickets.

In the last three years, ACaMIR has delivered 379 new vehicles to AIR Campania thanks to the corporate fleet rejuvenation plan desired by the Campania Region. This has allowed the TPL company to start decommissioning buses with over 15 years of service and renew 50% of the vehicle fleet, which currently numbers 774 vehicles. Currently, the average age of AIR Campania buses is 9.4 years, lower than the national average of 9.7 years (data from the Asstra study centre).

The Air Campania bus station

During President De Luca’s visit to the Avellino bus station, the new offices of the Automobile Club of Italy and the Avellino Automobile Club were inaugurated, in the presence of the Aci general secretary, Gerardo Capozza, and the president of the Automobile Club Avellino, Stefano Lombardi.

Furthermore, the memorandum of understanding between AIR Campania and the Local Health Authority of Avellino, represented by the general director Mario Ferrante, was made official for the transfer of the Territorial Pharmacy Service to the premises in via Fariello.

Inside the bus station, the Airone shopping mall, currently home to management offices, catering businesses, bars, tobacconists, a parapharmacy and a Mondadori bookshop, will host a gym in the coming months. The agreement for the transfer of the offices of the Order of Accountants of Avellino is also being finalized.

The terminal

It manages 400 trips daily from its 24 stalls, including extra-regional routes which will be expanded in the coming days. After the resumption of connections with Campobasso, the Avellino-Caianello-Rome route will soon be activated, with runs from Monday to Saturday at 5.30am and 4.00pm, and on Sundays at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets will cost 17 euros from Avellino (32 euros return) and 10 euros from Caianello (18 euros return), with discounts for season tickets.

«Thanks to the investments of the Campania Region, we have taken a significant step forward, guaranteeing citizens efficient and quality services – said Anthony Acconcia, administrator of AIR Campania -. The approval of the budget, with 840 thousand euros of profit, and the awarding of Lots 2 and 3 of the European tender for the awarding of minimum TPL services in Avellino, Benevento and Caserta, strengthen our position as a regional player in transport on rubber. Now we must look to the future and continue working to maintain high quality standards and meet the mobility needs of the region. The next step is the digital transition: work has begun in Avellino and Caserta on the installation of smart poles. We are also ready to lead this change, which, thanks to the Intelligent Transport System project of Campania, strongly supported by President De Luca, will revolutionize mobility, allowing users to obtain real-time information on travel times and any delays”, he concluded Style.

Air Campania for social issues

After the second humanitarian mission in Ukraine, which allowed 100 war orphans to participate in a summer camp in Palinuro (SA) until 24 June, AIR Campania reiterates its support for children. During the event, administrator Anthony Acconcia presented a check for 17,955 euros to president Anna Maria Ziccardi and director Flavia Matrisciano, intended for the Santobono Pausilipon Foundation.

Gender equality

Air Campania has obtained the prestigious gender equality certification, demonstrating the company’s continuous and concrete commitment to promoting equality and inclusiveness. An award that highlights the importance given by governance to the creation of a fair and respectful working environment for all employees.
