De Luca, ‘Campania does not allow itself to be blackmailed regarding cohesion funds’

AVELLINO, JUNE 17 – “Let’s get one thing in mind: Campania will not accept blackmail. Never”. The President of the Region, Vincenzo De Luca, said this regarding the issue of the Cohesion Funds, speaking in Avellino at the delivery ceremony of one hundred new buses supplied to Air Campania. In the hall of the Avellino bus station, in the presence of the sole director Antony Acconcia, the president of the regional transport commission, Luca Cascone, the general director of the ACI, Gerardo Capozza, De Luca once again attacked the minister Raffaele Fitto: “They think they blackmail us: either do what we say or we’ll block everyone. He’s the only one in the world who doesn’t know that the blocking of the six billion from the Cohesion Fund, which is money from the Campania Region and not from the government, implies an increase in the costs of works of a third party”. De Luca also recalled the sentences of the TAR and the Council of State which oblige the government to sign the agreement by June 28th. “I’m not optimistic – underlined the governor – they don’t care about the laws and rules. However, we know that we will not give in to their arrogance”. During his speech, De Luca recalled in particular the situation of public transport in Campania: “Until seven-eight years ago our trains were cattle wagons and rickety buses: we have accomplished a revolution, as well as that of policies and financing significant amounts destined for internal areas for infrastructure (the Lioni-Grottaminarda – ed.) and healthcare”. After the implementation of the ‘Frangipane-Bellizzi’ hospital in Ariano Irpino, De Luca shortly announced the inauguration of the new ‘Landolfi’ hospital in Solofra: “We are the government of the entire region – concluded de Luca – not only of the coastal strip and the metropolitan area of Naples”.
