The book: I took the Appia Antica from Rome to Brindisi on foot, alone, from 23 April to 21 May 2022. This book is what remained inside me after letting the excitement and adrenaline settle for a few months which, for a some time after returning, they were too big. I wrote it for myself, but also to share the amazement that arises every day of walking on the Regina Viarum with those who cannot, or believe they cannot, do it on their own two feet. Stupor is the right word, you will see: on the other hand, one of the characters who most left their mark on a good part of the regions crossed by the Appia was Federico II, the Stupor Mundi. If you hear the sound of my steps, the rustle of the wheat on my trousers, the gurgling of the water of the streams I cross, the blowing of the wind, my panting, my voice and that of the people I meet, I will have achieved my goal. Even more so if you want to actually do it… At the beginning of each day you will find a small screen of the route, to have a vague idea of where we are. Have a nice walk!

The author, Renato Stefanelli was born in Treviso in ’55. Initially a military pilot, he then became an Alitalia commander and finally ended his career at AeroLogic, of the Lufthansa group. This is his debut work as an author.
