The journey of the Open Fiber campers between the villages of Abruzzo, Marche and Sicily has begun. Today he left “Open Fiber Tour”, the initiative which aims to promote technological development in areas once affected by the digital divide and now reached by ultra-fast optical fibre. The first double stage of the project which will run until early December in 50 municipalities of the three selected regions touches Apecchioin the province of Pesaro Urbino, e Venetian, in the Messina area. The ultra-fast network available in the municipalities crossed by “Open Fiber Tour” reaches over 130 thousand real estate units through FTTH technology (Fiber-to-the-home, the optical fiber extended right up to the inside of buildings), the only solution capable of guaranteeing connection speeds above 1 Gigabit per second. This is a strategic investment for the digitalisation of the territory which does not burden the budget of the municipalities involved. The technological infrastructure, in fact, was financed with regional and state funds as part of the Ultra Wide Band Plan (BUL) managed by Infratel Italia, a company of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, with the coordination of Regions of Abruzzo, Marche and Sicily.
