Rimini is preparing to welcome the week that officially kicks off the summer with a unique program of events including music, sport and culture that range from the tour with the Strega finalists, to the meetings awaiting the historic arrival of the Tour de France, up to to the unique preview which will make musical scores never played before resonate in the splendid setting of the Galli theater and also the appointment at the Beach court with Carlton Myers.

The event in collaboration with the Malatestiana Music Festival with the Westmorland Project scheduled for Wednesday 19 June, at the Galli theatre, will tell the adventure of the scores stolen during the Grand Tour from the ship Westmorland in 1778. For the first time, a selection of those musical scores which until now remained unknown to the general public will return to Italy and the music will be performed live by the Westmorland Ensemble and the Rimini Classica Ensemble, with the participation of Silvio Castiglioni and the text by Massimo Pulini. On this topic, as part of the Rimini Drawing Biennial, it is possible to visit the exhibition “The treasure of Westmorland” curated by Massimo Pulini and José Marìa Luzón, Director of the artistic section of the Academia Real of San Fernando in Madrid.

The other 12 exhibitions of the Biennale, entitled: “Return to the Journey, from the Grand Tour to science fiction”, are hosted until 28 July in various institutional venues. Alongside the exhibitions, a packed program of 80 events including meetings, conversations with the artists, workshops, performances and guided visits by the curators of the exhibitions themselves. The inaugurations of the Open Circuit exhibitions also continue, exhibitions in private and public spaces (galleries, artists’ and architecture studios, bookshops) and those of the Network Circuit which are held outside Rimini.

While waiting for the Tour de France, the corollary events continue with the presentation (Tuesday 18 June) of Beppe Conti’s book, The Tour Mystery: Triumphs and tragedies, secrets and mysteries of the most important thing in the world from 1903 to the present day (Minerva, 2024), in the presence of the journalist and author. In the evening, the former cyclist will be the guest in the room Gianni Bugno, winner of the Giro d’Italia in 1990 and four stages of the Tour de France, as well as numerous classics. Following, screening of The Grand Départby Stefano Ferrari, who will be in the room.

A meeting, with free admission, with the finalist writers of the Strega Award for the Witch Tourthe evening dedicated to literature organized by the Gambalunga Library, thanks to the collaboration with the Bellonci Foundation.

On the musical front, for the review Crossroads Jazz and More in Emilia Romagna On Sunday 23 June the Corte degli Agostiniani hosts the Ottovolante Orchestra created and directed by trombonist Mauro Ottolini, one of the most important musicians of new Italian jazz.
At the Artists’ Park, on the banks of the Marecchia River, on Saturday 22 June you will be able to relive the iconic atmosphere of Yellow Flag with the Jump 80 concert and followed by dancing with Enzo Persueder DJ. Always on Saturday in the splendid setting of Piazza dell’Acqua, he returns White Scartoz, an original “portarello dinner”, where diners must follow the rigorous dress code completely in white.

On the sports front, it returns from 21st to 23rd June Sandrimini, the 3 vs 3 men’s and women’s basketball tournament, held at the “Beach Court” playground of the Parco del Mare, Piazzale Kennedy area. A national level tournament, with participants from all over Italy and an exceptional testimonial: Carlton Myers.

The weekend will be dedicated to well-being with a new edition of The Celestial Night, the Italian festival dedicated to spas and natural wellbeing, which in Rimini involves Rimini Terme for two days of wellbeing and activities, without forgetting the festive moments on Saturday evening and the dawn concert on the beach with the EoS Quartet.

After the weekend the events continue at the square on the water with the fourth edition of Tickets to Friends with guests of the caliber of Niccolò Ammaniti, Chiara Barzini, Annalena Benini, Luca Bizzarri, Teresa Ciabatti, Francesca Fagnani, Matteo Garrone, Lorenzo Gramatica, Irene Graziosi, Nicola Lagioia, Stefano Mancuso, Marco Missiroli, Massimo Nicolini, Laura Paolucci, Francesco Piccolo, Guia Soncini, The Oze, Sandro Veronesi, Margherita Vicario (25 – 27 June).
