The Leo Club Forlì has donated an electronic cane, an essential aid for blind people to move around independently, to the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired (UICI). The ceremony took place in recent days at the local UICI headquarters in the presence of a delegation made up, among others, of Mattia Agostini, president of the Leo Club, and members of the Lions Club Forlì Host, such as Alessandra Ascari Raccagni, Camilla Sangiovanni, Aurelio Viscuso and Andrea Mariotti who hold the positions of president, master of ceremonies, Leo advisors and secretary of the association respectively.

The donated tool, a modern and efficient piece of equipment that allows blind or visually impaired people not to feel alone and to move with greater autonomy and safety, guaranteeing them a satisfying, active and integrated social life, was assigned to Giulia, a young member of the UICI. “Having delivered this important aid to a young woman from our territory”, declares Mattia Agostini, “is a source of pride for all the members of our association and can represent a catalyst for future charitable activities in collaboration with other virtuous organisations, such as this one established with representatives of the UICI of Forlì.

The donation is part of a project called “Leo Electronic Baton (BEL)” which is part of the National Operational Theme (Ton) that young Italian Leos have adopted for the three-year period 2023 – 2025. This particular service is carried out by each Leo Club of Italy and gives members the opportunity to contribute through an annual fundraiser also open to citizens”.
