Si finished with eleventh place in Race 2 the weekend of Andrea Iannone in Misano. The GoEleven team driver stated that the Romagna round was the worst of his season in SBK and, results in hand, one can only agree with him. In this fourth round he never had the pace of the leaders, complaining of grip problems. “We need to work better as a team.”

Did you expect this result?

I was hoping to be further ahead, but I was aware that it would be difficult given how the tests had gone. In my situation it’s complicated to compete with the official Ducatis, especially with these high temperatures. To try to get something out of it, in Race2 I chose to use the new tire that Pirelli brought here to Misano, after discussing it with their technicians. I hoped it would be the right choice to have an advantage over my rivals, but that wasn’t the case.

Are you generally satisfied with the work you are doing with the team?

There is undoubtedly room for growth. We’re not 100% yet, we need to manage the tests better and take a step from an electronics and chassis point of view. But it’s not easy to get to the level of the factory teams, because they have different availability.”

It must be said that Iannone returned to racing this year, in a private team, after four years of absence from the tracks. In the inaugural round in Australia he showed what he can do when he is OK with the bike. In our opinion it is unlikely that he can do more than he has done so far, even if it is difficult for him to accept being part of a private team and not being able to compete on equal terms with the best.
