CREMONA – Reveal the cards, the centre-left candidate Andrew Virgil. And he announces, in method and content, what he will do, if he is elected, in his first hundred days as mayor.
The premise: «I will decide with the citizens. My first hundred days will be based on concrete interventions and participation. The residents, neighborhood committees, shopkeepers, categories, businesses and associations will be the voice at the centre. I will initiate discussions with citizens to decide and evaluate together what actions will be implemented.”
The target: «Leave no one behind: from the historic center to the suburbs».
The contents, starting from the environment.
Priority set: «Decide together with citizens how and in which environmental interventions to invest the two and a half million euros paid to the Municipality by Tamoil».
Then the trade: «The second action of my possible mandate will be to study, also within and with the collaboration of the Urban Commercial District, a project for the redevelopment of Piazza Roma, which will increasingly have to be the green and aggregative heart of the centre, with a local police presence and a more welcoming play area for families and children.”
There is also via Giordano, in the first hundred days of Virgilio as mayor: «I am very clear that a solution must be found with the residents that relieves the traffic from the artery, identifying the funds for its redevelopment, also in steps and also through the planning of plantings and elements of environmental regeneration. That surgery can no longer be postponed. The Via Giordano issue is thorny and decades old and must now be resolved.”
The center-left candidate feels like making a promise: «The sector will change its face and we will do it by meeting the real needs of the neighborhood».
The programmatic agenda also includes the remodulation of local public transport: «We will define the new lines also in light of the tender which could bring further resources, to be invested in a better connection between the center and the suburbs, between the hospital and Cremona Solidale».
The security: «I want more presence of local police officers in the neighborhoods and to do so we will continue with the hiring of officers, who will thus be able to be more present in the evening and night time slots. Naturally, we will continue to invest in new technologies and improve public lighting in squares and key places in the city.”
Once the commitments have been made, Virgilio declines the method: «The citizens will be my interlocutors. The first thing I will do will be to open tables and moments of discussion to identify together the issues on which we need to intervene. I think there is only one way to reciprocate the voters’ trust: listening. And I will listen to them for the entire duration of my possible mandate.”
