At the height of the argument the young man, Andrea Tidu, stabbed the 57-year-old, Maria Dolores Cannas, in the back and then left the house. In the room next to her there was her husband who tried to save the woman and immediately called for help. The 118 intervention was quick, but the stab wound caused internal bleeding and there was nothing that could be done for the woman. The Quartu carabinieri arrived on site and stopped the 27-year-old still near the site of the tragedy.
