Saturday 15 June was an important day for the Massa Lombarda Tennis Club. The Romagna club has in fact completed its clear path in the Under 16 men’s direct elimination draw, becoming regional champion and gaining momentum in accessing the macro-area phase, scheduled for mid-September. After the victories (all 2-0) against Ct Albinea, Ct Cesena Ronconi and Cus Ferrara in the semi-final, identical treatment was reserved for Sporting Club Sassuolo in the match played on the Tennis Modena courts: Pietro Ricci left just two games (6-1 6-1) to Carlo Paci, while Matteo Ceppi beat Alberto Nicolini with a periodic 6-4, thus making the doubles dispute useless (Jacopo Liverani completes the squad from Massa).
The weekend for the Massa Lombarda Tennis Club was enriched by the success of the Under 16 women’s team, who beat the Riccione Tennis Club 2-1 in the play-off for 3rd place (again in Modena): Sofia Cadar beat the Riccione Tennis Club by 6- 1 6-2 Francesca Sparnacci, Maria Vittoria Ranieri lost with a score of 7-5 1-6 6-4 to Vittoria Muratori, but in the doubles played by the same four players Cadar-Ranieri won 6-1 6-2 allowed the team led by Matteo Versari (Maria Luce Ossani the third player) to gain the pass for the Macroarea phase.
“Winning a regional title is always a great achievement that doesn’t happen every year. A satisfaction that for our club comes eighteen years after the Under 18 team title in 2006″, underlines, with understandable pride, the manager Fulvio Campomori, and then expands his analysis. “In the 2022 and 2023 seasons we placed second in the under 14 women’s championship, also winning the mixed Under 10 macro-area phase in Tolentino last year. I would like to highlight that in 2024 we have registered 9 youth teams, participating in all categories of the affiliate championships with the exception of the women’s Under 12. Some regrets remain for the very young Under 12 men’s team, which stopped in the quarterfinals of the regional table, losing to CT Zavaglia in the double play-off. However, it is a team made up of elements in their first year in the category, such as Robert Cadar, Alessandro Teodorani, Elia Naldi and Samuele Chiarini, so they will be able to make up for it in the next edition”.
