Matteo Trapani (PD): “Pisa is less and less safe”

PISA – “Pisa is becoming less and less safe and the many episodes of petty crime are confirmation of this,” says Matteo Trapani, leader of the PD group in the City Council.

“Michele Conti ran for office 6 years ago with the slogan of safety, promising that he would be able to improve liveability in the neighbourhoods, that he would immediately have all the solutions to improve the areas of this city. Instead, the episodes of recent months, from the coast to the station, to the other neighborhoods, denote a total lack of control and presence on the part of this administration. In six years the situation has worsened and the many promises of the first electoral campaign have now become mockeries. If we combine this with the state of neglect and degradation in which our neighborhoods find themselves, we understand well how the mayor has stopped caring about Pisa to think only of his political career at the expense of the Pisan citizens, spending money to hold his own propaganda events where there is the rush to get on stage together with the worst right-wingers. A few years ago, the mayor at least pretended to deal with the problem by talking about security, appointing his faithful Northern League deputy as advisor on security itself, asking for more police forces in Rome. Zero results, but perhaps the only revolutionary act of Conti, who continues to call himself civic but voting for Vannacci’s league, was to stop acting as mayor, hiding everything under the carpet and not implementing any social or cultural policy , control and prevention, on safety”, concludes Trapani.
