Luigi Fazzino wins the 73rd Trento Bondone

The 23-year-old from Syracuse on Osella PA 30 Zytek at his debut on the 17.3 km of the race organized by Scuderia Trentina won with a capital performance and trailed Simone Faggioli on Nova Proto by 63 hundredths, Lombardi 3rd. Ghezzi owner of the house and of the GT.
The 73rd Trento Bondone has written a new page in motor racing. Luigi Fazzino on Osella PA 30 Zytek won the race organized by Scuderia Trentina over the 17.3 km between the banks of the Adige and the summit of Bondone, the third round of the Italian Superclimb Championship. The 23-year-old from Syracuse from Melilli, of Fazzino Motorsport, was making his debut in the longest race in the premier class car prepared by Paco 74 Corse. The young Sicilian carefully prepared the race and in practice he tested some tire compounds and tested the references to use in the decisive climb, in which he launched an irrepressible attack and crossed the finish line in 9’16”80. The multiple champion Simone Faggioli attempted in every way to contain the attack on the summit and at the wheel of the Nova Proto NP 01-2 he chased his 14th victory with great skill and tenacity, which however eluded him by just 63 hundredths of a second , despite a careful study of strategy and tire choice. Third place for Vimotorsport’s Lucanian Achille Lombardi on the Osella PA 21 4C turbo managed by NP Racing. The smile returned to the face of the driver from Potenza from Vimotorsport following the success in the E2SC 2000 class, after some difficult tests.

-“I can not believe it. I won for the first time on Bondone – exclaimed an emotional Luigi Fazzino – I tried to learn the way, which was more difficult given the length of the course. The work after the tests proved fruitful and now I experience this incredible joy, which I share with all of Melilli, my city and its Administration. The terrace of the Iblei was for me the view of an important victory” -.

-“Congratulations to Luigi, he was very good and deserved the victory! – the words of Simone Faggioli – we will certainly have to analyze the result and we are aware that we have work to do. I realize that what I achieved today is not my time, even if the result is important for the Championship”-.

-“The tests were certainly difficult for us, but NP Racing and LRM worked intensely and today I was able to recover – explained a satisfied Achille Lombardi – this result gratifies us and motivates us, what was needed after a somewhat slow start to the season. tiring and the stop in the second practice climb” -.

Just below the podium was the host Diego Degasperi, gratified by the performance obtained in his 30th time in the home race, but first ascent with the Norma M20 FC Zytek. -“Improving the time obtained in the race with the previous car already in practice is certainly a success”-. Excellent 5th place for another Sicilian, Samuele Cassibba, the Ateneo standard-bearer from Ragusa was also at his first time in Trento and was able to optimize the settings of the Nova Proto Sinergy V8 well. Sicily again in 6th place with the 21-year-old Andrea Di Caro from Nisse, another newcomer to the Trentino race, on Nova Proto NP 03 Aprilia achieved his third consecutive success among sportscars with Motore Moto. The CST Sport rider rejected every approach attempt by the talented Veronese Mirko Venturato, also on a Nova Proto NP03. -“Mirko gave me the decisive push, he goes fast and I defended myself”- commented Di Caro. Eighth place for the other Trentino rider Matteo Moratelli, increasingly in line with the Nova Proto Honda, but still not at maximum agreement. Ninth place for the Venetian Damiano Schena, for the occasion on Nova Proto NP03 and on the podium in the Motorcycle Motor category. The Apulian Francesco Leogrande on Osella PA 21 Honda completed the top ten with a brilliant success in the CN group. The driver from Fasano made his experience count on the long route, perfectly supported by the two-seater managed by Team Catapano. Second place among the prototypes with an engine derived from the series went to the Lazio native and reigning champion Alberto Scarafone, who lost something due to a less than perfect set-up for all 17.3 km. Full of points in the Junior Superclimb tricolor and also among the Wolf GB 08 Thunder for the Umbrian Filippo Ferretti, who preceded the Calabrian expert Rosario Iaquinta, who commands the Wolf flagship.

Excellent performance with record among the E2SH group silhouettes for Manuele Dondi from Bologna on the agile and always generous Fiat X1/9 powered by Alfa Romeo, making his seasonal debut. Behind him the Ligurian Gianluca Ticci, also the Fvale 07 standard bearer on Fiat

A gripping and spectacular duel between expert track riders and excellent climbers, won by the host and President of Scuderia Trentina Giuseppe Ghezzi in a Porsche 997 GT3. Ghezzi prevailed with a great test of will and an impetuous effort with just 18 cents over the attacking Thomas Pichler, author of an engaging test in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3. Also on the podium was the BMW Z4 GT3 of the prickly Roman Marco Iacoangeli, now 2nd in the championship. Below the all-GT3 overall podium, Italian leader Lucio Peruggini took full points in the GT Super Cup on the Ferrari 488 Evo, while the GT Cup was won by Roberto Ragazzi from Padua, also on the Cavallino 488, just ahead of the Calabrian Gabry Driver on Porsche 911. In the TCR group, Luca Tosini from Brescia showed off his strength in an Audi Rs3 LMS who preceded by 1″46 the determined Salvatore Tortora from Salerno on Peugeot 308 and the Apulian Giovanni Angelini on Volkswagen Golf Gti, first among the cars with DSG gearbox. Home record in group E1 for Alessandro Zanolli who, on the Skoda Fabia Rs, achieved an extraordinary performance and preceded by 3″41 the Calabrian Giuseppe Aragona who, at the wheel of the excellent Volkswagen Golf Mk7, thought first of all about the precious Italian points. Also on the podium was another rally driver from Trentino such as Tiziano Nones on a Skoda Fabia and then the acrobatic South Tyrolean Harald Freitag on an Opel Kadett. Anna Maria Fumo won the Racing Start Cup group with the wheelie in the race of the Tarantina from Gretaracing on a Peugeot 308 with which she preceded the local Alessandro Giovanelli on a MINI and Luca Tomaselli on an Alfa 147 Gta by 6.01. In Racing Start Plus Giacomo Liuzzi regained victory over Bondone at the wheel of the MINI and expressed his satisfaction with the effective adjustments made by SAMO Competition, which allowed the driver from Fasano to contain the exuberance of the talented South Tyrolean Selina Prantl, who for the first time at Bondone on a 2000 cc MINI, he closed with a gap of 2″37. Third was the always good Isidoro Alastra, the Trapani native from Vicenza who often pays for his occasional presence in the race on a MINI. Just below the podium Fabrizio Bommartini was the first of the naturally aspirated engines on the Honda Civic. A twist in Racing Start RSTB 2.0 where Oronzo Montanaro won on MINI, the driver from Fasano complaining about some imperfections still to be filled. The Apulian officially took the top spot when a carburetor irregularity revealed during technical checks eliminated Antonio Scappa in his Seat Leon Station Wagon from the rankings. Second place for the other Fasano Angelo Loconte on MINI, like the Calabrian Salvatore Mondino, leader of the series and first among the displacements up to 1.6. For the RS with naturally aspirated engine, Antonio Vassallo from Salerno on a Renault Clio preceded Luciano Moscardi from Brescia on a Clio in the Cup version and Paolo Venturi on a Honda Civic Type-R.

Sicilian success with Salvatore Totò Riolo on a PCR A6 BMW of the 4th group also in the race European Historic Car Championship.
