The 60th Valli Ossolane Rally in Caffoni-Grossi: the ninth victory, the record, the legend

The greatest of all! Davide Caffoni and Mauro Grossi won the 60th Valli Ossolane Rally, a victory which is obviously historic because the duo from Dome is now the team with the greatest number of successes, surpassing the eight editions won by the unfortunate Franco Uzzeni who was supposed to be in the game but which he beat in a test on the eve of the race. After equaling this record last year, in 2024 came the sixth consecutive victory to which three previous ones must be added: nine victories for the absolute record, a record that will last for many years to come. After the first day with the success of Carmellino-Tirone in the SS1 ‘Zinox Laser’ Druogno raced in the downpour, Caffoni won the SS2 in Fomarco only to then lose the success in the Domobianca 365 to the Pizio-Cecchetto duo by a tenth. Davide, second, however jumped to the top of the standings with 2.5 seconds on Carmelino. On Sunday morning Caffoni and Grossi with their Skoda Fabia R5 Evo won the first Crodo Mozzio and the first Montecrestese, in Cannobina however the winners were Pizio and Cecchetto ahead of the excellent Iani and Puliani with Carmellino and Tirone third, Caffoni and Grossi finished fourth at 4.8 seconds, remaining in the lead of the race with 12.6 seconds on Carmellino and 22 seconds on Iani. The Ossolano Ghepardo because it still makes its loud voice by winning the second tests in Montecrestese and Crodo, leading on the eve of the last special with 16.5 seconds on Carmellino-Tirone and with 30” by Iani and Puliani with Pizio who loses a lot in Montecrestese and leaves the very first positions. The last Cannobina goes to Carmellino-Tirone who win their second personal race ahead of Iani and Puliani, Caffoni and Grossi only need a third place. The 60th Valli is theirs with 14.5 seconds of Carmellino-Tirone, with 29-6 second on Iani and Puliani who go to the podium and with 40.7 seconds of Margaroli and Minazzi. Davide and Mauro, always them: and they are already dreaming of the star of the tenth.
