At the end of the celebrations in honor of San Antonio of Padua, the committee thanks the individual citizens, entrepreneurs, sponsors and associations of the city who contributed to the celebration in honor of our Protector, to whom the Lamezia community has relied for centuries and to the which is linked by a bond of affection and devotion that crosses generations, could have its own moment of civil celebration, as happens for the festivals of Sambiase and S. Eufemia.
From the initiatives in the square of the Sanctuary to the DJs who animated the musical evenings of the 70s, 80s and 90s up to the concert by Cosimo Papandrea on the evening of 13 June, it was possible, thanks to everyone’s contribution, to support the voluntary associations for the safety, to the municipal administration which made the stage on Corso Numistrano available, to create a program capable of attracting hundreds of young people, with a “safe” entertainment proposal, enhancing the music of the Calabrian popular tradition.
An immense thank you that involves the voluntary and third sector associations that guaranteed hospitality and safety during the days of the Tredicina and during the procession, with a particular attestation of gratitude to the two professional technicians Bruno Aloisio and Giuseppe Gaetano.
Celebrations which saw their culminating moment in the procession of 14 June, which never before this year saw thousands of people pay homage to the Saint by accompanying him through the streets of the city.
A popular and collective enthusiasm that is the fruit of the pastoral care that the community of Capuchin fathers, led by Brother Biagio Bonasso, manifests throughout the year for the community and which, for centuries, has made the Sanctuary of St. Anthony of Padua a point of reference spiritual for the whole territory.
Thanks again to those who, with every form of help and support, did their utmost to give these days of celebration to the city. Thanks from now to those who want to give their contribution of ideas and commitment in the future, certainly to improve on what has already been done and to keep alive a celebration that is the heritage of the identity of the Lamezia community.
