The Run for the Whales ended with a record number of participants, which last night animated the cycle/pedestrian path of western Liguria and the athletics field of Sanremo. In fact, a total of 765 registered for the three scheduled races: half marathon (Fidal), non-competitive 10 km and Family Run (around 3 km). An event that brought many runners from all over Italy and abroad to the Riviera for a day of sport, entertainment and fun in the open air.

There Half Marathon it started from San Lorenzo al Mare and affected (it will cross the municipalities of San Lorenzo al Mare, Costarainera, Cipressa, Santo Stefano al Mare, Riva Ligure and Taggia) the cycle path in a westerly direction up to the finish line at the Sanremo athletics field . There 10 km it affected the cycle path, almost up to the beginning of Tre Ponti where the halfway point was located. Along a similar course, on a development of about 3 km, also the Family Run. Yesterday morning opened with the first Plogging Challenge of the Run for the Whales organized by the Sanremo Marathon Committee in collaboration with the I Deplasticati association and the intervention of some volunteers from the BioDesign FoundaIon. This event was part of the “Sportspeople for Nature in the Riviera” project, the project that won the tender promoted by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, which aims to combine the importance of environmental protection with the benefits of sporting activity.
