The guys from Visma Lease a Bike did everything to win the eighth and final stage of the Giro Next Gen and they did it thanks to the British Matthew Brennan who triumphed at the finish line in Forlimpopoli.

There were really many attacks in the first part of the race, then on the road leading to the final circuit (to be repeated four times) here was the decisive action thanks to the attack by Lorenzo Nespoli (MBH Colpack Ballan), Luca Paletti (VF Group Bardiani Csf Faizanè) , Luca Bagnara (Polti Kometa U23), Luke Tuckwell (Trinity), Niklas Behrens (Lidl Trek Future), Leo Bisiaux (Decathlon Development), Andrea Montoli (Biesse Carrera), Rasmus Pedersen (Decathlon Development), Jeferson Ruiz (GW Shimano) , Matthew Brennan, Pietro Mattio and Darren Van Bekkum (Visma Development).

What worries the pink jersey is the presence of Leo Bisiaux, sixth in the general at 2’10”: the lead of the pacesetters reaches almost two minutes, then the group reacts and slowly approaches but not enough to cancel the attack.

At that point the Visma guys took over the reins of the race: Van Bekkum worked first, then Mattio made himself available to Brennan and gave him the sprint which the British hba won by a few centimeters over Niklas Behrens with Luca Paletti in third place.

And at the finish line with arms raised, Jarno Widar passed through the heart of the group and took the final victory in the 2024 edition of the Giro Next Gen.
