Another prison officer was injured in prisons in Sicily. This time the attack on Pietro Cerulli in Trapani. This was reported by Gioacchino Veneziano, general secretary of Uilpa Sicilia.
“The colleague, in an attempt to separate two inmates who were about to fight, received a violent blow on the head from one of the two inmates with the wooden foot of a table provided in the cells, it even seems that he lost consciousness – he says the trade unionist – The agent was first physically transported to the prison infirmary, then accompanied by a service car to the emergency room of the Trapani hospital”.
In recent days, several officers have been injured inside Sicilian prisons.
“We express anger and indignation, hoping that our colleague has not suffered serious consequences, but – concludes Veneziano – we ask for intransigent sanctions against the prisoners who committed this vile attack on the worker, without prejudice to the fact that we will question the administration with a union letter as to why the policeman was not transported by ambulance given his clinical condition”.
