Acts of vandalism to the villa’s irrigation system, again a waste of public money

New acts of vandalism in the municipal villa of Andria. The latest episodes date back to yesterday morning when we found ourselves faced with flooded driveways and out-of-control irrigation. Unknown persons, in fact, damaged some so-called “pop ups” of the irrigation system, causing a clear dispersion of the water. It was the Environment Councilor of the municipality of Andria, Savino Losappio, who reported the acts of vandalism yesterday morning with a post on social media: «There are those who enjoy destroying the pop-ups of the irrigation system – we read – . In the last period we have an average of twenty or more per week. Wasted water and wasted money! Thus councilor Losappio, who wanted to highlight above all the frequency of vandalism that is taking place in the municipal villa. It is not clear who is causing this damage, but the clues would lead to groups of young people – some evidently uncivilized – who often animate the green lung of the city of Andria.

Today, however, the president of the city council, Giovanni Vurchio, intervened on the episode with a message addressed to citizens: «These irresponsible actions – we read – not only cause waste of water and public money, but also represent an attack directed at our common heritage and the quality of our daily lives. The damage caused to our irrigation systems negatively affects the maintenance of our large green lung, which offers all of us a place for leisure, relaxation and meeting, deserves all our attention and care. Public green spaces are an essential element for the well-being and beauty of our city, and keeping them in good condition is a responsibility that concerns us all. Such behaviors denote a lack of respect towards the entire community and the environment around us. We can no longer tolerate such gestures. It is essential that we all understand the value of common resources and the importance of mutual respect.” Finally Vurchio launches the appeal: «I invite you to join us in the fight against vandalism, promoting a culture of responsibility and respect. I ask anyone who witnesses acts of vandalism to immediately report them to the relevant authorities. Only by working together can we preserve our environment and ensure that our resources are managed sustainably and safely. Thank you for your attention and for your commitment to protecting our city.”
