The African anticyclone is ready to trigger a new and intense heat wave towards central-southern Italy which will also involve Calabria in the next few days. The weather will remain essentially stable during the week, with clear or slightly cloudy skies. Temperatures will increase day after day and will reach increasingly higher values, with the peak of the heat expected between Thursday and Saturday, when the climate will also become muggy. In fact, at night the minimum temperatures will not fall below 23/25°C and will be locally higher along the Ionian side, where they could fluctuate around 25/27°C. During the day the climate will become hot and maximum values can locally reach 40°C in the hinterland, cooler along the coastmitigated by the sea surface. In particular, in Reggio Calabria, peaks of 35°C are expected on Thursday, with minimums that will fluctuate around 25°C. By the end of next week this intense African heat wave could finally stop, due to the entry of cooler currents from the northern quadrants which would progressively reduce temperatures.
