Late yesterday evening, in an operation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Bologna, under the direction of Deputy Prosecutor Michele Martorelli, the Flying Squad arrested a 38-year-old Ukrainian citizen, with a criminal record, suspected of a brutal homocide. The victim, a 40-year-old compatriot, was found lifeless in an apartment in Via Ferrarese. The body, lying on a chair, had several wounds on the body and head. Rushed to the Maggiore hospital, he underwent surgery for a serious abdominal trauma which required the removal of his spleen, as well as treating a skull fracture. Despite the doctors’ efforts, the man died in the late morning of June 15. During the search of the apartment, the Forensic Police detected latent fingerprints attributed to the suspect. The presence of surveillance cameras provided further evidence: the videos show the man entering the building armed with a blunt object and coming out shortly afterwards with traces of blood on his arm. The evidence collected allowed the Public Prosecutor to issue an arrest warrant for murder. The suspect was found in the Pilastro area on board a vehicle registered to him. After the necessary searches, he was taken to the police station, where he was interrogated and subsequently transferred to the local prison. According to investigations, the motive for the murder was due to passionate reasons.
